Why Hawaii? Ever since I was a kid, I couldn't stand the cold. I always enjoyed our family vacations to Florida... the ocean, the piers, the fishing and palm trees... I dread the long, cold, dreary winters here in the Midwest.
At age 21, I had saved enough money ( or so I thought ) to visit Hawaii. Tom Gahan and I spent two weeks visiting Oahu and the Big Island. I knew then that Hawaii was the place for me.
Instead of moving then, I returned home and eventually got married, had three kids and concentrated on raising a family. The goal was always to move to Hawaii someday... but I knew to make that happen with a family, I had to be financially able.
All three kids are here with us. Sarah is working full-time at Macy's with plans to go to college after working for a year to save money. Brandon is a sophomore at Kealekehe High School. Adrien is in the 7th grade at Hualalai Academy.
We hope to purchase a boat someday that we can use for fishing and scuba diving. In the meantime we fish the shoreline or charter a boat when guests come.

Living on the most remote landmass in the middle of the world's most remote ocean is not for everyone... but I sure like it!
