This is a photo overlooking Kailua Kona Bay on the Big Island of Hawaii. This spot is where our new home will be built. We hope to enjoy many evenings on our lanai enjoying the world famous Kona sunsets. Notice the cruise ship in the bay?

This is an aerial photo of Kailua - Kona Bay. Our property is located very near the center of the photo and slightly to the right. This area is called Holualoa and is often referred to as the Kona Coffee Belt.

Speaking of coffee... here's some along our fence line.

This is a 2005 photo from our neighbor's ( above ) property. Our lot begins just past the first tree and continues down the street approximately 750'.

This 2004 photo is standing at the top of our lot looking down the street towards the bay. The trench was dug for the installation of the palms which are now along the entire road frontage.

Here's a 2005 picture of the areca and fan palms we installed. The fan palms are located where the driveway will be. The rest of the frontage has areca palms... which will grow about 15' high and provide plenty of privacy within the next five years. The tree on the right is a Monkeypod. Trimming them in this manner will create an umbrella type canopy within the next two years. The PVC irrigation lines are for the palms and the ice plants ( not shown ).

The ice plants have just been installed ( early March '05 ) and will be a very nice groundcover between the palms and the street.

The entire road frontage has palms and ice plants. Notice Kailua - Kona Bay in the distance?

Here's an August 2006 picture of the same palms and ice plants. By the end of 2007, these arecas will be 15' or more tall and provide us privacy from the street.

Here's a banana tree that is located on our property. We are able to pick bananas, papayas, avocados, lilikoi (passion fruit) and coffe on our property. We are planting pineapple, lemons, limes, oranges, grapefruit and numerous other fruits.
